Winter Solstice Tree (part 2)

They sailed and sailed across the seas for days and days, but eventually they arrived where we live today. There wasn't a town like there is here now and there weren't any people yet either. But the Four Seasons didn't mind at all, they found a good spot and they got settled down. They took apart their Magic Tree ship and used all the pieces to build themselves houses. It worked very well, at least for a while. They built two houses and a third one too, but when they were ready to build the fourth house, there was nothing left of their Magic Tree ship. For a moment they didn't know what to do. There weren't enough houses to go around, but it didn't seem fair for one of the four to be left all alone with no place to live. So they all sat down and they thought and they thought until suddenly Fall had a good idea.

"Why don't we all just take turns," he proposed.

Everyone thought that would work very well. They decided that Winter and Summer and Spring could each have a house to start. Then Fall would be free to walk all around and see what was what and what wasn't. And when he was done he could call for The Windman and Whoooosh! the Windman would come, he'd blow Fall back to Winter's house so Winter and Fall could both switch around.

And that's just exactly the way that they did it, every three months they switched around so that each of the Seasons took turns in town while the other three lived in the houses. Down to this day it goes on the same way as it did that very first year. Each Season spends nine months away before coming to stay with us here in town, and the Windman blows them all back and forth when it's time for a seasonal change.
